Healing Rules

Spells and Potions

Any healing done via spell outside of combat will automatically heal for the full amount, including modifiers. This represents the spellcaster’s ability to fully concentrate on the energies being channeled into the recipient.

Healing performed during combat, or any encounter in which the spellcaster is under some sort of duress, healing is handled as normal.

Potions, being made in general in a stable environment, following a precise recipe, always heal for 10, 20, or 40 HP.

Rest and Healing

When a character gets 8 hours of uninterrupted rest, they are able to recover their Level + Constitution bonus in Hit Points. While this does not all have to sleep, activities that are stressful and/or strenuous negate this recovery (even if performed in supine or other positions). Keeping watch is a stressful task (in theory), while doing a crossword puzzle is not (in theory).

If this rest is done in a place of comfort and (relatively) free from danger, the character regains his (Level x2) + Constitution bonus in Hit Points. If this rest is done under the care of someone skilled in Healing, that person may make a Healing check versus a DC of 15. Success indicates that the patient regains (Level x3) + Constitution bonus in Hit Points.

Rest and Healing Summary
8 hours of rest level + Con bonus
8 hours of rest in a safe environment (level x 2) + Con bonus
8 hours of rest in a safe environment under the care of a skilled Healer (DC 15) (level x 3) + Con bonus
